Camtasia (Mac): Uploading files to a web server to embed on a website

Problem

How to upload Camtasia produced files to a web server to embed on a website?

Solution

Camtasia produces "Web-ready" content when you produce using the TehcSmith Smart Player. You need to upload all of the files that Camtasia produced to your Web server to place the video online. To view the video, enter the URL for the HTML page that you just uploaded into your Internet browser or set your links to go to the URL for the HTML page that you just uploaded. Below is a video on how to upload your produced files to a web site to play the video.

Video on its own page

  1. In Camtasia, export the project as a web page by going to the menu bar item Share > Local File, and choose "Export to MP4." Check the box to "Export as Web Page."

  2. Upload the entire folder that is exported to your web server.
  3. When you browse to the public URL of the "index.html" in the uploaded folder, the video will be available for playback.

Embed the video on a different page

    1. In Camtasia, export the project as a web page by going to the menu bar item Share > Local File, and choose "Export to MP4." Check the box to "Export as Web Page."

    2. Upload the entire folder that is exported to your web server.
    3. Open the index.html file in the produced folder in a HTML or text editor. Copy from the style tag to the end of the script tag.
