Camtasia (Windows): System Audio Setup Failed

There are various reasons why the recorder is not working. Here are some options to resolve the problem.

Option 1: Uninstall ASUS Software Programs

There are specific programs within ASUS computers causing this error. As a workaround, we recommend uninstalling them from your computer.

  1. Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall ASUS Sonic Suite, ASUS Sonic Studio, and ASUS Sonic Radar.
  3. Reopen Camtasia Recorder.

Option 2: Uninstall Nahimic Audio

There is a specific component included in most MSI computers causing this error. As a workaround, we recommend uninstalling this from your computer.

  1. Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall Nahimic Audio.
  3. Reopen Camtasia Recorder.

Option 3: Exit or Uninstall Alienware Soundcenter/Alienware Control Center Process

There is a specific process causing this error. As a workaround, we recommend exiting or uninstalling this from your computer.

Exit Process

  1. Ctrl+Shift+Esc to open Task Manager.
  2. Right-click AWSoundCentersvc32.exe and choose Exit.
  3. Reopen Camtasia Recorder.

Uninstall Process

  1. Open Control Panel > Programs > Programs and Features.
  2. Uninstall AWSoundCentersvc32.exe.
  3. Reopen Camtasia Recorder.
