Camtasia (Windows): We are unable to contact the TechSmith server


We are unable to contact the TechSmith server. Please check your connection to the Internet.


This issue can usually occur if you are behind a proxy or firewall which blocks the connection to our update server. Another cause to the issue is if TLS 1.0 is unchecked in your Internet Explorer options. As a workaround:

  1. open Internet Explorer Click Tools > Internet Options > Advanced tab
  2. Check the box for "Use TLS 1.0" Click Apply and OK.
  3. Restart Camtasia and check for updates
