Snagit (Windows): Crash or hang when stopping video in Snagit 2018 on Windows 7


When stopping a recording with Snagit 2018 on Windows 7, Snagit either crashes or hangs on "Processing...."


This is a known issue that we are looking into. This problem only affects windows 7 computers. If you are experiencing similar behavior on Windows 8 or 10, please try the suggestions here.

  1. Close Snagit so it is not running at all. Make sure it is closed by checking the notification area (by the Windows clock).
  2. Download and save this zip file.
  3. Unpack the file by double clicking it.
  4. Double click the REG file inside and click OK to the prompts.
  5. Launch Snagit and try recording another video.
