Camtasia (Mac): How to Avoid Blurry Videos

Videos exported from Camtasia (Mac) are blurry.

This can happen when the original video changes size. This can occur when the canvas size is not the same as the size of the imported video.

Set the Canvas Size to Match the Current Video

  1. Select the Properties button (in the center right part of the screen) and the side menu should appear on the right.
  2. With timeline selected, set scale to 100%.
  3. Select Edit > Project Settings and select the dropdown menu on Dimensions and select Fit to Visible to set the canvas dimensions to the correct value of your video dimensions. Select Apply.

Set the Canvas Size to Match the Video for All New Projects

Videos that are imported into Camtasia (Mac) 3 by default, are set to the canvas at the 1080p resolution (1920x1080). This means that if your video is not exactly 1920x1080, it will be scaled to have 1080 height and the width of the video will be scaled proportional to the videos original aspect ratio.

To change default option, select Camtasia 3 (in the top left), then from that dropdown select Preferences. Select the Canvas option (in top right).

Set Canvas Dimensions (for both Full Screen Recording and Region Recording) to Original Recording Dimensions.
