TechSmith Relay: “HTTP Error 500.19 – Internal Server Error” displayed when accessing the Relay web site

When attempting to view the TechSmith Relay website, the following error is displayed:

 "Error 500.19 The requested page cannot be accessed because the related configuration data for the page is invalid."

Relay 3.0.1

This error is generated when the TechSmith Relay AppPool is not set to run under .NET Framework 4. Starting with Camtasia Relay 3.0.1, .NET Framework 4 is utilized, whereas prior versions of Camtasia Relay utilized .NET Framework 2.

To resolve this issue:

  1. In the IIS Manager, select Application Pools
  2. Right-click the Camtasia Relay AppPool and click Basic Settings.
  3. In the ".NET Framework version" dropdown list, select .NET Framework v4.0.30319.
  4. Restart the IIS service through the iisreset command, or right-click on the top-level node in the IIS Manager and click Stop, then right-click again and click Start.

Relay 3.0.0 and earlier

This error is generated when the DefaultAppPool Pool is set to run under .NET Framework 4.  This issue can be caused by installing .NET 4 prior to installing the Camtasia Relay server.

To resolve this issue:

  1. In the IIS Manager select Application Pools.
  2. Right-click the DefaultAppPool and click Basic Settings.
  3. In the ".NET Framework version" drop-down list, select .NET Framework v2.0.50727.
  4. Restart the IIS service through the iisreset command, or right-click on the top-level node in the IIS Manager and click Stop, then right-click again and click Start.
