Sometimes, you might want to use Camtasia Studio to record both ends of the conversation from a webinar or video chat conversation when using a headset. In this case, your audio speaker settings in the application you are using need to match the default playback device in Windows.
This solution will only work with Camtasia Studio 7.0 and later, and will not work on Windows XP.
Follow these steps to record both sides of the conversation:
- Right click on your speaker icon in the bottom right of your monitor (will be by your clock) and choose Playback devices
- right click on your headset and set select Set as Default Device
- In the application you are using (such as Skype, Webex, etc.), be sure the speaker (audio you hear from others) is set to play through your headset
- In the Camtasia Recorder, be sure that you are recording both your Microphone and System Audio
