Camtasia Crashes/Locks During Production

Problem

Camtasia is crashing or hanging during production.

Solution

Option 1: Update Camtasia

To update Camtasia, click Help > Check for updates.

Option 2: Switch to Software-Only Mode

  1. Select Edit > Preferences > Advanced.
  2. In the Hardware Acceleration dropdown, choose Use software-only mode.
  3. Click Ok.
  4. Restart Camtasia.

Tip: Always Save Internally

For the best performance and to protect your data please work on your projects from your local hard drive. Avoid network drives and cloud drives while working on a project including exporting. Use external drives for transferring, backup, and archiving only.

Option 1: Update Camtasia

To update Camtasia, click Help > Check for updates.

Option 2: Disable GPU Acceleration

  1. Select Tools > Options > Program.
  2. Deselect the option to Use GPU acceleration if available.
  3. Click Ok.
  4. Restart Camtasia.

Option 3: Batch Production

  1. Select File > Save to save the project.
  2. Select File > New Project.
  3. Select Tools > Sharing > Batch Production.
  4. Click Add Files/Projects.
  5. Locate the .camproj (project) file and open it. Click Next.
  6. Choose the desired production settings for the project. Click Next.
  7. Choose a local drive destination to produce the files to. Click Finish.
