Camtasia (Windows): "Error in Custom Action" message when entering software key during installation

Example Error Message

Error in Custom Action, The Library C:\Windows\C0E8FE43C35B4551DB35FD4BD056D70E7.TMP\WiseCustomCalla.dll is invalid or could not be found" when entering your software key during installation.

The installer tries to write the software key into the Windows Registry using an installer action. If that attempt fails, the error occurs. It generally results from old components being left behind from a previous installation. If you can browse to the location of the .TMP file listed in the error message with Windows Explorer, delete the referenced .TMP file, then try reinstalling.

As an alternate workaround for this error, select the option to install as an evaluation instead of entering the software key during the install. You may need to cancel out of the install and then select the evaluation option upon re-running the install. The first time you run the installed program, select the Unlock option on the trial screen and enter your software key to unlock the trial.
