Snagit (Windows): Snagit will not start up on Windows start

First, make sure that this is enabled in the Snagit preferences.

Snagit 13

  1. Open the main Snagit capture window and browse to the file menu File > Capture Preferences
  2. Make sure the box to "Run Snagit when Windows starts" is checked

Note!

If you are receiving an error about needing to be an administrator when checking this option, please make sure you have the latest version of Snagit installed by going to the file menu Help > Check for updates. If you are running the latest version and receiving an error, please submit a support ticket.

Snagit 12

  1. Hover over the Snagit capture window and click on the gear icon next to the red button
  2. Choose Preferences
  3. Check the box to Run Snagit when Windows starts

Snagit 11

  1. Open the main Snagit capture window (also called the classic capture window) and browse to the file menu Tools > Program Preferences
  2. Check the box to Run Snagit when Windows starts

If this does not work, please try the following. 

  1. Hold down the windows key on your keyboard and hit the R key to open the Run window. 
  2. Type the following and hit Enter:  secpol.msc



  3. Browse to Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options
  4. Locate User Account Control: Run all administrators in Admin Approval Mode. Set this to Disabled.
