Snagit (Windows): Error: "Unable to Save Printer Settings. The Selected Printer Is Not Available"

When attempting to print from Snagit Editor, the following error occurs:

Snagit 13 and Later

If this behavior occurs in Snagit 13, please submit a support ticket.

Snagit 12 and 11

Please review that Snagit is in the latest available version of Snagit.

  • Snagit 12: Snagit v12.4.1
  • Snagit 11: Snagit v11.4.3

Download Snagit to have the latest version. If the problem still continues, please reinstall Snagit.

Tip: Print in Virtual Printer

There have been multiple user reports that changing the default printer to a virtual printer resolves the issue.

  1. Press Windows+R on your keyboard to open the Run window.
  2. Type the following and click OK: regedit
  3. Click View Devices and Printers.
  4. Select preference of virtual printer (Adobe PDF Printer, XPS Document Printer, etc.).

However, changing the default printer to another physical printer does not resolve the issue.
