Jing (Windows): Installation Instructions

Once Jing has been downloaded, it needs to be installed.  If you need to re-install  Jing, it can be downloaded here.

  1. Locate the "jing.exe" file that was downloaded after purchasing Jing.  In most cases, this is going to be in your Downloads folder, which will be in C:\Users\YOUR USERNAME \Downloads\

    *TIP: A quick way to get to your Downloads folder is to look for this button on your task bar.    


    After clicking it, expand the This PC section on the left, and there should be a Downloads folder here.

  2. In the Downloads folder, should be the Jing installation file, most likely "jing.exe."  Double click this file to begin the installation process. 

  3. To install using the default settings, after accepting the License Terms, click the Install button (A).  To install using custom settings, after accepting the License Terms, click Options (B).


    NOTE:  If you are seeing the screen below when you double click the install file, then Jing is already installed on your computer.  Please close out of this window by clicking the X in the upper right hand corner, and proceed to step 4. 

  4. Once step 3 is complete, then Jing is installed and ready to use.  Jing will open automatically after installing, and you will be able to sign in, or create a new account.  To open Jing manually...
    • Windows 10
      • Click on the Start button
      • Choose All apps

      • Open the TechSmith folder
      • Select Jing

    • Windows 8
      • Click on the Start button
      • Click the down button from the Windows tile screen

      • Locate the TechSmith section, and select Jing

    • Windows 7
      • Click on the Start button
      • Choose All Programs
      • Open the TechSmith folder
      • Select Jing
