Create Source Graphics for Future Editing

The SNAG file format saves the current state of an image and allows for editing of any vector-based objects on the canvas such as text, callouts, stamps, shapes, and pasted images. Use this file format to incorporate feedback, make edits or revisions, and update the image at any time.

The SNAG file format can only be opened in Snagit on Windows.

Save an Image as a SNAG File

  1. In Snagit Editor, click to select the image in the tray.
  2. Select File > Save As.
  3. Select SNAG - Snagit Capture File from the Save as type dropdown.
  4. Click Save.

About Vector Graphics

If you save an image containing vector objects to another file format, the objects flatten to become a permanent part of the image.

Flatten Objects on the Canvas

  • Right-click the object on the canvas and select Flatten or press CTRL+T.
  • Right-click on an object on the canvas and select Flatten All or press CTRL+SHIFT+T
