Jing will be retired soon, and you can learn more about this here
I am not able to see the Jing sun, but when I try to start the program I receive a message indicating that Jing is already running.
If this is the case, Jing is most likely on the menu bar at the top right of the OS X screen. Look for a black circle with lines through it that almost looks like a basketball. You can click on this to get the Jing menu and start a new capture as shown in the image:
If you would like to get the Jing sun back please click More, and then Preferences, and un-check the "Use menubar instead of sun.
Finally: If you are on OSX 10.7 or earlier you may receive that message that Jing will not work on anything earlier than 10.8. If you get this message please click on the Apple logo in the top left corner, and choose About This Mac. Verify what version of the Mac OS X you are on. You will need to be on at least version 10.8 for Jing to work properly.
