TechSmith Relay (Hosted): Error "The Video is Loading." with imported Youtube video from LMS


After importing Youtube videos from TechSmith Relay and adding them to an LMS using an LTI connection, I am receiving an error: "The Video is Loading." and video does not play:




This is a known issue with Windows Chrome version 66 or higher. The changes from this update impacted TechSmith Relay's ability to playback YouTube videos in an LMS iframe. 

We're currently working on a resolution. 

Until a resolution is available, we do not recommend sharing a YouTube video in the LMS using the LTI workflow. Please note that the YouTube videos play back as expected and analytics are gathered when the videos are viewed directly on the TechSmith Relay site.

If you still need to share your imported Youtube video as an embedded object in an LMS course, we recommend doing one of the following:

  1. Ask Windows users to view the videos in a different supported web browser.
  2. Disabling the autoplay policy will allow users to view the imported Youtube videos through the LTI or embed code. To access the necessary Chrome Flag, go to chrome://flags/#autoplay-policy and under "Autoplay Policy" set the value to "No user gesture is required".
