(Multi-Seat Subscriptions) Change My Primary Payment Method

Before we begin

On the subscription management portal at manage.techsmith.com, you can view and manage your multi-seat subscription for these products:

If you need a one-seat subscription, or are looking for a different product (Snagit, Camtasia, or other), you can visit our online store. Please note that licenses and subscriptions purchased in the online store cannot be managed on the subscription management portal.

When you contact Sales to purchase a multi-seat subscription, we ask you to choose a payment method:

  • Credit card (can be used for monthly and yearly subscriptions).
  • Purchase order (can be used only for yearly subscriptions).
    If you use a purchase order, you can make the payment with a check, wire transfer, or credit card.

After our team sets your payment method as primary, by default, it is used for all your next purchases within this subscription.

If you have multiple subscriptions, you are recommended to use the same payment method (purchase order or credit card) for all purchases within this subscription. However, you can select different payment methods for different subscriptions.

View My Primary Payment Method

  1. Visit manage.techsmith.com and sign in to your TechSmith account.
  2. Select Organizational purchases.
  3. (If you have multiple subscriptions) On the Subscriptions page, select any subscription.

  4. In the Payment method section, you can view your current primary method.

Your primary credit card will be used by default for new purchases and auto-renewals within this subscription.

You can set a different credit card as primary for this subscription. For example, if you purchased the subscription with a Visa card, you can set a MasterCard credit card as primary for your next orders within this subscription.

While you can set purchase order as the primary payment method, you cannot use it for future orders within this subscription.

While purchase order is your primary payment method, you will need to provide the purchase order number during each new purchase within this subscription.

After you purchase a subscription with a purchase order, you cannot set credit card as the primary payment method for this subscription.

However, after the purchase, you can make the payment with a credit card, without setting it as primary. See the Add a Credit Card section in this article.

Add a Credit Card

You may need to add a credit card and/or set it as primary in the following cases.

Case Actions

Your primary payment method is purchase order, so you can make a payment with a check or wire transfer. However, you would also like to have the option to pay with a credit card.

Add a credit card but do not set it as primary.

After you make a purchase with a purchase order, go to Organizational purchases > Invoices and next to the invoice, click Pay with card. See (Multi-Seat Subscriptions) View and Pay My Invoices.

Your primary payment method is credit card, and you would like to have another card ready as a backup option.

The card will be used by default during your next purchase.

  1. Visit manage.techsmith.com and sign in to your TechSmith account.
  2. Select Organizational purchases.
  3. On the Subscriptions page, locate the Payment method section.
    If you have multiple subscriptions, the new credit card will be added for all of them, so, it does not matter which subscription you are viewing at the moment.
  4. Click Add credit card, and then add the card details.

    Please note that:
    • For multi-seat subscriptions, we accept the following credit card types: American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa.
    • Cardholder name, address, and email address can be different than in Account details and are used for bank verification and anti-fraud purposes. To create an invoice, we will use the billing address in account details.
    • The Expiration date should be at least 60 days from the current date. Otherwise, if you decide to return a product purchased using this card, you may experience delays in receiving a refund. For more details about refunds, see TechSmith Return Policy.
  5. Make sure that you entered all the credit card details correctly. You will not be able to edit credit card details later.
  6. Click Save card.

Change the Primary Payment Method

You can set a different credit card as primary for this subscription.

For example, if you purchased the subscription with a Visa card, you can set a MasterCard credit card as primary for your next orders within this subscription.

However, while you can set purchase order as the primary payment method, you cannot use it to make a purchase within an existing subscription that was created with a credit card.

If your current primary payment method is credit card, but you would like to make your next purchase with a purchase order:

  1. Make sure that all of your subscriptions have auto-renewal off. This step is needed because in our backstage system, primary payment method is set on the account level, not the subscription level.

  2. Set purchase order as your primary payment method.
  3. Contact Sales to place the order. See (Multi-Seat Subscriptions) Why Can't I Add All Products to the Same Subscription.

After you purchase a subscription with a purchase order, you can place other orders within this subscription with a purchase order.

However, while you can set credit card as the primary payment method, you cannot use it to make a purchase within an existing subscription that was created with a purchase order.

Instead, you can make a purchase with a purchase order, and after this, make the payment with a credit card, without setting it as primary. See the Add a Credit Card section in this article.

Frequently Asked Questions

It is not possible to edit credit card details. Please delete the card, and then add it again, making sure that all the card details are filled in correctly.

It is not possible to delete a credit card that is set as primary. First, please set another credit card as primary.

Sorry, changes to your payment method are not saved in Organizational purchases > History. Also, we do not send any emails about these changes.
