What about this is supposed to help? I already have a perfectly recorded piece of media. But I can't edit it. Are you saying that I need to record differently in order to edit when using an XLR microphone? None of these words have any meaning to me.

I also have questions about this gem:

    https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/203729948-Microphone-To-Use-With-Camtasia

Since my new computer that I specifically bought for video editing doesn't HAVE USB ports. It's all thunderbolt ports with attachments AND I bought an XLR microphone. All this equipment works to record. I just don't understand why video editing does not. I can't even tell if it's related. If I get new software that doesn't have this problem, what should I get?

Okay. So I just tried recording off the regular web cam and I have the same problems editing. The sound stops working after any cut I make.

The post I referenced had a response that suggested encoding the audio to AAC  format and seemed to suggest at the default bit rate of 254 kbps.

AAC is a digital format & XLR is Analog.

Camtasia doesn't support analog signals natively to the best of my knowledge. I know nothing about your setup and how you're recording/capturing the signal.

Some webcams don't work well with Camtasia.

For better assistance on theses matters I suggest you contact support. I'm just a Camtasia user who's trying to help. I know little to nothing about XLR.

since you have Camtasia 2020, suggest you download and try the Camtasia 2022 free 30 day trial

see if it works with your new system?

also, are you using Windows 11 on the new system?

    Without a maintenance agreement........

There is email support still available for Camtasia 2020 through April 2023.
