    Hi folks,

    Any ideas about his issue?

    Thanks!

Well, I just tested it and it's true, regrettably. Newer versions of Outlook 365 have changed where/how they store the Outlook version number. We need that version in order to test some Outlook settings to see if it is possible to embed images.

I logged a bug so we can try to figure out how else to get that information. There isn't an obvious workaround I can offer at this time, hopefully we can get a fix in an upcoming release (no promises though).

Thank you for the follow-up! I was most interested in confirming the issue was real and not something we were missing. We have a few dozen snagit users in our environment, and the workaround of cutting and pasting into a new email will do for now.

    Best,

    Jesse

This is not an official or supported solution to this problem, but you might try modifying the Windows Registry as follows::

    • Go to this location: Computer\HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\App Paths\OUTLOOK.EXE
    • Change the "(Default)" value to be: C:\Program Files\Microsoft Office\root\Office16\outlook.exe

When I did that, Snagit will now embed the images in the email. Again, this is not an official or supported solution, but this may help until we either release a fix or Microsoft decides to change something again.

    Hey folks,

I tried the registry edit, but now when the user attempts to share via the Email shortcut, it attaches to the Outlook message as a PDF. Pasting still works as an inline image. Is there somewhere I should change the setting? If I accidentally left a default format as PDF somewhere, it makes sense that it couldn't paste a PDF inline and it is possible the registry edit will work.

Looking further, Share/Save As Preferences... was set to last used. Which, was PDF. Once I changed it to always use .jpg, the pasting inline worked as described. Thank you!
