Uploaded Videos Deleted Free Accounts??
Hi,
I use a free screencast.com account mainly for uploading videos from techsmith capture. I recently logged in and noticed I only have 2 videos uploaded as of May 30th. I've been using this platform for years.
Did all the previous videos get deleted? I am fine with that, I just want to make sure they are not floating around somewhere I do not know about.
As an FYI, it would have been nice to have received a notice a delete was planned.

Hi Mike,
Screencast Classic (www.screencast.com) has a retention policy in place for free users. If content has been created over a year ago, and also has not been viewed in over a year, that content will eventually get deleted. I say eventually, because it's not an instantaneous process right when the content is technically past these limits. Note that we do not delete any content for Pro users.
There are alerts that show in the UI when content is close to being deleted (a yellow warning triangle next to each piece of content), as well as a banner alerting you that you have content nearing expiration.

Thanks for the info. Yeah the videos I lost were not important (why I never saw the banner because I had not logged in for a while). Think an email would still be nice. People often forget about where they store important items.

Hi Exor64 - I'm betting that your videos have NOT been deleted, actually. Screencast is getting a big upgrade right now, and newer videos from Capture are being sent to the new Screencast library, but the older videos are still in "Screencast Classic". You will probably see this at the top of your library when you log in:
Click on that, and you can find your way back to the rest of your videos!
In the coming months we will be providing the tools for you to merge your libraries together (we're still testing).

As of my last knowledge update in September 2021, I'm not aware of any specific policy changes regarding uploaded videos being deleted for free accounts on any particular platform.
