Paste an object in same location from one image to another

I have an object (for example, say a circle) that I want to copy from one image to another. I want it to appear in the same place on both images. However, when I paste, it appears to paste in relation to where my cursor is at the moment I paste. That is incredibly odd for any image tool. At the very least, I would have expected a slight offset. I'd prefer a precise location. Since there also doesn't seem to be a way to specify the location of an object precisely, I can't edit the metadata (for location) to move it. Is there a solution?
