Bad video quality recording a remote desktop window (from Windows)

I have Camtasia 2023 on my Windows 10 computer, 2K monitor.  I open a non-full screen remote desktop to another computer (Microsoft Remote Desktop software).  I then use start a Desktop recording (from my Windows computer) of the remote computer window (non-full screen).  The recording has noticeably poor quality when I view/edit it in Camtasia.

Note: When I view the recording, the quality of the screen is super during the first few seconds, but as soon as the screen scrolls or the mouse moves, the quality goes to poor.

I've done this use case dozens of times over the past year without the poor quality.  I wonder if something has changed in Camtasia 2023 or one of its updates.

Any ideas?

  I would look at Windows recent updates as well.

  See if there was a an update that coincides with the change.
