I am unable to open my .tscproj file – Error message displays: "The project file cannot be opened. Make sure the selected file is a valid .tscproj"

Hey there!

I had just received the final draft changes to implement into the video I was making for work, and upon opening Camtasia (version 2020.0.14) I received the following message:

"The project file cannot be opened. Make sure the selected file is a valid .tscproj"

Previous projects open, however the file itself as well as any copes I make and change the name of don't open properly as they display the same message.

This isn't the end of the world, however it would save me almost a day of work having to create it all from scratch, and I do have three other videos to make in the coming weeks so time is tight.

I've just sent off a ticket with Techsmith, but any fixes or help would be greatly appreciated, regardless.

1 thing you could try.

Open a { Copy } of the corrupt file in Notepad.

Open a {Copy, just to be safe } of the previous project that works in notepad.

Compare the first lines of code and see if there are any differences. If the corrupt file has any, make changes to match the working project. Save the file and see if it will open.

If you worked on the project for an additional day the differences between the 2 files will be huge. So digging around looking for a particular error could be daunting.

I've seen the basic code I've mentioned cause issues but its not a high probably target.
