    Hi,

I don't think you can set a hotkey to only have modifiers, you should need control, shift, and another key. See if that works for you!

Well, it use to work last spring and there is a "None" option available in the drop down menu.

So I want to make sure I understand the issue correctly, when you do the repeat last capture, it's taking a capture immediately without showing you the crosshairs?

No, I want the crosshair to show. What happens now is is the Snagit Editor is launched when I press the configured sequence.

Best would be to have a hot key setting for capture picture with crosshair. The "repeat last capture" is to uncertain, e.g. after reboot Snagit seams to do nothing, possibly because it does not remember the latest capture as it was before the reboot.

I see, either you want to take an all-in-one capture first to set that as the type that gets repeated, or you can create a preset based on all in one capture and set any hotkey you'd like to it. https://www.techsmith.com/learn/tutorials/snagit/presets/

    OK, lets try again.

Thanks for the pre-set tips, but I don't see that as an option in the Snagit Capture Preferences/Hot keys. There I use second option, Repeat last CAPTURE, and check Ctrl and Shift. I leave Slt unchecked and the dropdown ad default None.

Using Ctrl + Shift I expect the previous capture of a still picture (the latest capture I did prior to this exercise) to be done by launching the Snagit Capture from the windows bar at the bottom (yes it was previously started but runs in the background) of my screen. Instead the Capture EDITOR is opened up! This is not the capture tool in my opinion. I had expected the Snagit Capture tool to launch with the croshair ready to drag and drop to capture an image and then launch the Snagit Capture with this image in the edit window.

Hot key specifying a selected preset would also be nice.

Repeat last capture is designed to replicate the last thing you did with minimal interaction. So if you select a 400x400 area in the middle of your screen, repeat last will capture that region instantly and open the capture in the editor. This helps you rapidly capture the same area if you need to.

Presets are defined in the capture window, not the editor preferences. You can assign a hotkey to each preset, so I think this will get you the workflow you want.

The last thing I did was in the case outlined above, was using Snagit Capture to capture a picture with the crosshair. I did not open the Snagit Editor. This was done automatically. Still the Editor is opened not the Capture as I expected. For me hot key to launch the editor is not a frequently needed function compare to quickly launch the capture function, especially as the editor is automatically launched on capture.

Configure the preset with Ctrl + Shift was not accepted but Ctrl + Return works to bring up the crosshair capture. This is good enough for me.
