8/20/23 - Posting to Snagit Forum
This posting is feedback to Snagit development group.
Please mention in future presentation and in tutorials the following subject areas which were stumping me for some time until recently I found how to resolve the questions I had.
A. Subject: Is an image saved?:
Using Snagit 2023, 2022 I could not determine if I had saved an image in Recent. In earlier versions there was an Asterisk appended to the title of the if it was edited and saved (Title is displayed on the top of the screen.) That feature disappeared with latest releases. I discovered, by looking at RECENTS, if there is an extension shown in RECENTS, that indicates the image has at least been saved once, which helps a lot. Currently I find no way to tell if an image has been edited after a save has happened (That was the purpose of the asterisk.)
B. Subject: Extra image appears in RECENT:
I am finding in the latest versions of SNAGIT that when you save an image as a JPG or SNAGX the first time, a second image identical to the original is saved in the RECENT field. This fact was not true in earlier versions of SNAGIT. As far as I know there is no option in SNAGIT settings to get rid of that extra image (discussed this in a Level UP session). When I find the extra image, it shows no extension label (Which indicates not saved) and I just delete it (if I do not delete, SNAGIT will inform me there is an unsaved image - I recall). Question: What is the usefulness of that extra image?
C. Subject: Pasting an image in Recent over current display image:
I recently discovered that I could take a RECENT image, left-click drag, release or right-click, copy, paste an image in recent and superimpose it over a current displayed image (Collage like function). I do not recall that capability being explained in any tutorials. You discuss SNAGIT menu options but not this feature prominently. I may be in error.
E. Subject: Extending the Canvas:
Another area you could emphasize in your tutorials is extending the canvas in a current display image and what you can do with that capability. Not sure if that is explained as a main point anywhere. A variation of this is just starting with a new empty canvas (File, New) and creating an image from that. I had to create a plain RED background for a LinkedIn cover image and discovered I could use an empty new canvas, add a shape, fill it with color to fulfill my need. Stumped me for a while.
NOTE: At a recent LEVEL UP course I enjoyed, I asked some of the above questions and did not get adequate answers (in Chat comments or other Virtual option to screen talk to someone). Following up now with these feedback post.
F. Subject: Displaying where to send feedback using an email address:
I have completed your SNAGIT certification course. In fact, I took all the optional tracks (except one - program would not allow me) so I could see the differences and benefit from it. I took notes of any questions I had of the certification course and any problems I found. I could not find easily an email address to send in my comments, that I recall. I think I sent it the comments, or I gave up figuring out where to send it. Never received confirmation of receipt of comments. Will try to locate my comments and try to submit again.
