    Hi,

I'm not sure what email you're referring to, but Snagit does have a free 30 day trial. You can download it here: http://www.techsmith.com/download/sna...

    Hope this helps.

Where do I get the software key so I can try the Snagit product for the 15 day trial?

There is no key required for the trial version.

The link absolutely does not work. The "trial version" does not allow me to scroll down and select Trial. Very frustrating Techsmith.

When you visit the link above you should be presented with a screen that lets you choose Mac or Windows, and after that the correct installer for your platform should automatically start.

After you step through the installer and launch Snagit for the first time you'll be presented with the screen that lets you sign-in to start your trial or enter a product key if you've already purchased. You can see what that looks like on this support page https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/208716647-Snagit-Windows-Enter-Your-Software-Key.

If you're having some other issues, please do not hesitate to open a ticket with our Tech Support. https://support.techsmith.com.

If you have questions about purchasing Snagit, I'd encourage you to contact our sales staff here: http://www.techsmith.com/about/salesc...

I agree with this person. I also signed up for the Camtasia free trial. They sent me an email with tutorials and a way to buy the paid version, but no way to start using it for free. I'm also not satisfied. It does indeed feel like a bait and switch.

@jsadtler: I'm not sure who referred you, but you can download and install a 30 day, fully functional trial of Camtasia from our website:
    http://www.techsmith.com/download/cam...

    Hope this helps.

Using the free trial will the resulting video look exactly the same as if I used the paid version to create it? For example, are ads or company branding included in the trial version?

It's 100% identical to the paid version. But the trial version leaves a substantial watermark.
So you would need to save the project and all related media. Purchase Camtasia  and reproduce the project after activation. To get a UN-watermarked version.

You would see this pop up when you go to render the video in the Trial version.
The watermark is shown. Along with a brief description of the trial rules. For the full  description see.........
    Camtasia End User License Agreement

Every time I click to get the thirty days it indicates a 15 days offer. I would like to use the 30 days because of the holidays. If I download now I will only be able to use it for approximately 7 days. Is there a way to try this software for solid thirty?

I've seen it posted before in this forum that you are able to type REPEAT into the key field in order to extend to a full thirty days.

Hi I am not sure if camtasia will do what I want for my particular purpose which is why I would like to trial it first,

in the trial version does that version have the same features as a paid version?

so at the end of the trial time if I like it I can then upgrade to a windows paid version and not have to download and install anything is that how it works ?

or does the trial version only allow me access to some of the paid features and for unrestricted access to all features I need to upgrade to try those parts of camtasia ?

if its the second part where I need to upgrade for full unrestricted access to camtasia can you please direct me to a contrast and comparisson screen so I can see what I have access to as a free trial user and which part of the features list are not included in the free trial that you only get as a paid user

The trial version of Camtasia is full featured, no restrictions. There are restrictions if you want to use the videos you create prior to purchase. If you purchase the program, you can use your videos for whatever you wish.  Just purchase the key and activate Camtasia. There is nothing further to download or install.

    Hi Joe

Thanks for the feed back can you be more specific with how the videos can be used prior to purchase? Meaning in the free trial am I able to download my recording and upload it to my youtube or my own website for example?

Or do I have to pay for the full version first before I am aloud to save the project download and then upload it to you tube? this is an example of what I meant by if their are restrictions do you have a page where I can view these limitations as a free user versus a paid version.

once again thanks in advance for the feed back and I look forward to hearing back from you or another employee of camtasia with the answer

Yes, there is no way to activate the free trial. No activation key was sent to me. There is no information on how to generate one. Everything seems to push me to try to buy it. I'm not going to lay out $120 CAD for a program I don't get to try out, and it's a hassle to ask for a refund. I don't need more ways to waste time in my life.

When you're installing the trial, you need to choose "Free Trial"

And when you run the software, you need to click "I would like to evaluate Camtasia Studio"

When you launch Camtasia for the first time, you will see a tutorial project has already been loaded into the software, but we also have lots of online tutorials to help you get started with the software at
    https://www.techsmith.com/tutorial.html

The trial is fully-functional, but our EULA states that the trial is "strictly for your internal evaluation and review purposes and not for production purposes."

It sounds like there might be some improvements we could make to clarify the process, so I'm curious about which parts of the trial process are confusing?

I'm an avid user of Camtasia. This company has had a long history of serving customers fairly and providing valuable software tools that are MUCH easier to learn than their competitors... who charge MUCH more than Techsmith.

I am surprised at the angry reactions from a few people on this board.

Techsmith offers a free month-long evaluation period with software that is fully functional. In my opinion, there is nothing to complain about. Nothing.
