    Hello,
I'm sorry you are having trouble.

Can you tell us what is not working correctly - what results you are getting instead of what is expected?

    Thanks!

Instead of it cutting out the portion that's framed for deletion, it's cutting out another part this isn't framed.

Once an image is initially Snagged, the resulting image in Editor is flat (right?), so I can't see that being the problem. It doesn't happen with the other options.

    Hi,

Are the pieces you want to cut out flattened? That feature will only cut out sections that are flattened on the canvas.

So, any floating vector objects like pasted images, callouts, etc. will not have the effect applied to them. Instead, it will cut out underneath the floating part making it seem like it is being misapplied.

Do you think this could be happening?

    Hello,
    You are correct.
I thought maybe you had other elements on your image.

Would it be possible to make a Jing recording of what is occurring and send me the link? You can post it here, or if it something that cannot be shared, you can email me the link at k.mullins@techsmith.com.

I would like to see just what is happening. That might give me a clue to what is wrong.

I am having the same problem. I have an image that was snagged. There are no additional images or elements in the image I want to cut. I select a middle portion of the image, from top to bottom. Instead of cutting out the selected area, the end of the image is cut off.

I'm having the same problem, but with horizontal or Vertical images. Absolutely flat, saved as jpg. Snagit 12.2.0 build 1656

Very disappointed with this version. I've been a long term user but the product is getting slow, buggy and dropping features.

    Hi there!

When you take a capture, are you using a custom profile or are you simply using the global capture process? Is your image flattened (per the other responses)?

This feature is still not working on version 4.1.7 on Mac, with image flat.  When I try to cut out, only a horizontal option is available.  What is the trick to enabling vertical cut out, please?
Screencast from Jing: https://www.screencast.com/t/4buO7sX1  The hover-text that appears on the command indicates vertical cut out is possible.  If it is not meant to be available, perhaps removing that hover-text would alleviate the confusion. It would be better if the functionality worked.

Also, as far as I know, I'm using the global capture process.

    Hi there;

In Snagit 4 you can do a vertical cutout; after selecting the Cutout tool, in the Properties panel you can select a vertical cutout. See:

    Hope that helps!
