    Hello Jan,

Are you looking for a way to drag a selection area that always remains at a particular aspect ratio but not a particular size?

I too am looking for this capability.

When creating reports, often in Word, we like to insert pictures that are in landscape. It would be great if we could use SnagIt to capture an image (like a screen capture of web page) that is in a specific aspect ratio (i.e. 4:3). I would like to size the window larger or smaller, but ultimately want the captured image to be that aspect ratio.

It would also be great to include lines to show the 'rule of thirds' that is used in photography. That way if I am capturing an image from a photo, then I could use the rule of thirds to help me better make them image balanced to the eye.
For additional information on rule of thirds: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rule_of...

I would like to capture in Snagit in a defined aspect ratio. 4:3 of 16:9, for example.

How do I do this please?

    Hi there

When you begin the capture and you see the crosshairs to draw the capture area, press and hold the Ctrl key as you click and drag. This should restrict to a 16x9 area.

If you want a 4x3 area, include the Shift key.

  • Hi Rick, I think that should be Ctrl+Shift for 4:3 aspect ratio. Shift does 1:1.
