While I would not expect a software house to fix any issues in an old version, support in some form, paid or free, should be available for a guaranteed period.

Here in the U.K., if it was a UK based company I would take this up with Trading Standards.  I would also even ask one of the popular PC software magazines what their views are, and if they have ever done a survey of this treatment.

It's low cost software when all's said and done, and bad publicity is something no company wants.

For the record, we are a small company ourselves and the key product we sell, we also support versions used in XP days.  However we do politely explain that since even Microsoft no longer support XP, we can only do our best.

You would be surprised how many upgrades we get out of offering such help, especially when the PC dies and they have no choice.

    Hello,

Are you having a problem you need support with right now?

Or, are you thinking the software will stop working?

If you purchased Snagit 4, that version is fully supported until the year 2020.
Please check out our Supported Versions support page here for more information about all of your technical support options.

Mine has stopped working all together and it is not available in the app store for me to download and reinstall. Also, I was never sent a key, so I cannot load it from the website and login.

    Hi,
You can download your version here:
    https://www.techsmith.com/download/oldversions
And, when you say you were never sent a key, are you talking from January 2017?
Did you purchase from our website? Or, did you get your software someplace else?
Overall, when you made this post, you said your version was not supported any longer... however, it looks instead like you need your key? And the software to download?
Please let me know where you purchased so I can try to help. Your key should have been in an email we sent you if you purchased on our website.

Now I have tried your "find your key" finder and according to it, I do not have a key. WTH.

Your key would not be in the system to be found if you never registered your software.

Please contact our Customer Service for help on this. They can try and locate your purchase.

There is live chat from 6am-9pm (ET), or you can call/submit a ticket. Here's the support link.

I don't have access to your order or key information, nor does anyone in this forum.

If you purchased from the Apple App Store, you can still install your old versions from the Apple App store IF they're compatible with your current release of the OS.

Prior to Mojave, you can launch the App Store under the Apple menu and there's an icon at the top labeled "Purchased".
In Mojave, if you launch the App Store from the Apple menu then click on your Apple Account name in the lower left-hand corner of the screen. Once you do that there's a "Purchased" option in the menu.

Because Apple's OS updates often break old versions of software, you might want to take a look at the compatibility of all your apps before you upgrade. That's not to say we're trying to break things, but Apple often makes fundamental changes to their OSes that cause issues with old versions of our software. For Snagit, you can always find our OS compatibility notes in the Version History.
