Gary, I understand your point, like some cameras stamp dates, but when I need a date, I just type it in on the screenshot and it takes me seconds to do that. Just a suggestion!

    You can do this already

Paul, would be nice if you explained HOW you can already do it.

I did, perhaps a bit cryptically.  Look in the screen shot, to the right of the date

The beauty of this technique is that you can apply it retrospectively, and it will use the contemporary date

Does the Mac not have the "Capture Info" options?

I have a preset made for capturing the date/time.

You can also add the info after the capture with the Capture Info Effects option in the editor.

Paul, I see the date, but not HOW you did it. Why cryptically? we are here to learn!

Click the "Effects:" popup...  (It currently says "None" in your screen shot)

Thanks Doug, never knew what that was for! Every time I played with those settings, I'd get a video instead of screenshot. So, I just left it alone. I appreciate your help!

Brilliant! Exactly what I needed, and more. Obviously there's much more to SnagIt than meets the seasoned eye (I've been using it for over 10 years, apparently in ignorance of its true power). Thanks to everyone but especially Doug Troxell.

Any chance the time/date stamp could be included in a stamp?  (It would be helpful if we could use it when marking up images - like an approval stamp, or a reviewed stamp.)

I was thinking of creating a new "active" stamp as a tool.  There might be some default stamps, but we could also create/modify these new "active stamps" to include variables (filenames, dates, times, directories, usernames) and images/text to create custom stamps.  The "active stamps" would include stuff like "ok to pay" with an image and time/date , or "received" including username and date.
