Please update Snagit Mac to 4.1.7 if you update to macOS High Sierra (10.13)
There exists an issue where image captures (snagproj files) taken in Snagit Mac appear washed out after updating to macOS High Sierra (10.13). This was caused by a long standing bug in macOS that is revealed in High Sierra.

4.1.7 has been released with a fix
Please update to the latest Snagit Mac by either checking for updates in the product or downloading the latest version.
If you are not currently on Snagit 4.x
While we do not officially support the current operating systems for previous versions of Snagit, this is a fairly serious bug in Apple code. Due to the severity, we have released a tool to fix your old snagproj files if you choose to use a previous version of Snagit on an unsupported version of macOS. You can find the tool in our support article. It also can work for any PNGs that may look washed out on 10.13 that were created in other programs. The best way to stay up to date is to purchase annual Maintenance with Snagit.
Some details on what caused this
In Sierra (and possibly previous versions), Apple was not correctly saving image metadata when Snagit saves a snagproj (our editable capture format). macOS was then was displaying images based off that bad data, but they looked correct.
They fixed both the reading and the writing issues in High Sierra. But the problem that remains is that snagproj files have the bad metadata and appear washed out.
We have now found a way to work around the Apple code for those already on High Sierra (is delivered in Snagit Mac 4.1.7)
For more information about this issue and information on the standalone tool when it’s released, please visit our support center.

I repeatedly tried to install Snagit Mac 4.1.6 before installing macOS High Sierra (10.13) as instructed, however, I repeatedly received the message: "Update Error! An error occurred while extracting the archive. Please try again later" and I'm left with no choice other than to cancel the update.

We are looking into the issue. There appears to be a sync issue with our delivery network. You can choose to download directly from here:
http://download.techsmith.com/snagitmac/enu/Snagit.dmg But the issue should be resolved shortly through the normal mechanisms.
Apologies for the delay.0 -
I updated to 4.1.6, but it crashed repeatedly, so I reverted t0 4.1.4 (Revert is a great feature, BTW!).
Today I updated to 4.1.7, which seems to work fine. No more crashes.0 -
Apologies for the crashing, this was localized to specific types of machines. We fixed it the following day in 4.1.7, like you discovered. 0 -
I updated the text above, but we have released the tool for those not on Snagit 4.x. It's available in our support article. 0 -
I purchased Snagit Mac 2018. Works well. Then today I upgraded to 10.13.1 macOS from 10.12.6.
When I opened Snagit 2018 after the update it started to do some conversion and reported 1073 items out of 1075 were converted then it froze. I force quit Snagit and opened it again and all seems OK. Any idea what caused the hang?0
