jing for screen captures--not video

I just read the warning on Jing that you're not going to do further development. It appears that the new application will be for video capture. What if you don't use video capture? I haven't ever used that feature but the ability to screen shot without losing my mind, and the ability to write on those captures to highlight things is the reason I use Jing. 

So, what are we non-video people going to do with the new Techsmith Capture? Is there a screenshot feature with the capabilities for writing on and saving just pictures? 

I'm worried my Jing is going to be useless and I'll not be able to use the new one.

  I'm not getting the video capture to work right. I select a window, hit video, the cursor goes to a cross and i can't manipulate the window i selected...so as to capture the activity in that window.
