Joe said it better than I could have. This is a big $%^&ing deal. 0 -
Looks like I'm the first to comment.
From my perspective, this built blows away "Camtasia 2018 and 2019 Combined" by comparison.
It's loaded with both Requested & New features.
Features that bolster ones creativity abound.
If you were waiting for a reason to Upgrade. Don't take my word for it.
Download the free trial and give it a Whirl.
Regards,Joe0 -
What features are you excited about exactly? The only I see is that they finally matched decent quality from a webcam so I don't have to use the quicktime hack.
It's 2020, and we STILL can't move captions.0 -
Hey Zack
I participated in beta testing. I would call it an abbreviated study. I had enough time to test drive most or all of the new features.
Due to time constraints, and the volume of new features. I'm uncertain if I used them all.
This PDF pretty much covers it.

Track Mattes is one of my personal favorites. But theres a lot more to like overall.
Timeline editing has been enhanced.
Theres a lot media bin improvements.
The recorders been improved.
Read the PDF, check out the videos.
Theres a lot to digest. {:>)

At Paul, I put some videos together to get you up to speed on Track Mattes and what you can use them for: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLJiZj-PiRY8zTAhC99cqaanmgvT7vWyrP 0 -
@Troy Stein
1) Thank you so much! I'm really enjoying this
2) Your "position of playhead"/"total time in project" looks different than my 2020 UI. Is that a 2021 thing or an option I can select?0 -
Nice job on the videos Troy Stein 0 -
Nevermind, it's a difference in Windows/OSX UI. 0 -
Upgrade from 8.6 to 2020 ... worth it, same price from ytube affiliate and how much? 0 -
@brooks. Was running 2020 on trial for a bit and just paid to upgrade, now when entering the license key, the app will crash or I'll get an invalid key error. 0 -
Have you tried installing the most recent version?
You can download and install a new or an older version from this link.

I'm on 2020.0.5. I just downloaded a few weeks ago on trial and today paid so I could export local file without watermarks. I've even tried to export with watermark and the app crashes. When I reopen, it says "it looks like there is a license key associated with your account". I follow the prompts and still get the "invalid" error. 0 -
remington, contact support, they will get you going. 0 -
I have a ticket... apparently its up to a 4 day wait :( hopefully it won't be long... I need to get this out. 0 -
I've also got some tutorials I've put together that often dig into advanced compositing techniques. Just hoping to contribute to community knowledge.

Hey Lukas, glad you enjoyed the videos. I will continue to putter away at them as I stare down the barrel of social isolation.
I totally hear you on the "select all succeeding media before / after" functionality. Premiere has a track select forward and a track select backwards tool that I really like from a past life. I can't make any promises, but we have been talking about how we could improve magnetism by auto pinning content above a magnetic track a la Final Cut or Adobe Rush. I've demoed the Final Cut track select forward / track select bacward in Premiere several times to UX and several engineers. So, it's at least on our minds. I'll make a note of your passionate lobby for it. ;-)
As with most things in life, there is so much we could improve on, but a finite amount of time. The wishlist is long! I will do my best to advocate on your behalf.0 -
Thanks Brooks. Looked through all of them. Great tipps and some "hidden gems" there ;)
I deeply miss the possibility to select ALL succeeding media clips if one media is selected. In the current implementation of the "Select succeeding media" function only media on the same track(s) as the selected media clip will be selected... I need this applied to all tracks. There are many workarounds (create a range to the end and lock a track, ripple move + lock a track, zooming out and select all the clips manually) but they're all tedious for such a simple task!
I made a video how (easy) it works in my prefered DAW Studio One:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8rLfOiN8ab0
Can I accomplish that in Camtasia in a similarly easy way? Maybe you know of some hidden things which lead to the result I want...!? :)
Best, Lukas0 -
I hear they've finally listened to the most asked for features. So I assume movable captions are included now right?! So excited. 0 -
Wow. 0 -
Unfortunately, positioning captions is still a pain. Arrrrgghhh! 0 -
You should be able to click on the drop down next to full screen to get to Custom Selection. 0 -
How can i bring back custom selection? 0 -
Ya beat me to it Brooks, I was gathering a screen shot. So I'll leave it up. 0 -
You cannot, all the settings have been rolled into one Icon/Menu. That does pretty much the same thing.
Regards,Joe0 -
I believe the "Select Area to Record" is the option if you want to make a custom recording area, no? 0 -
Correct ,
I never used the custom button before. I've been playing around with it.
It looks like it remembers the last custom sized window you framed and recorded.
When you fire up the recorder. You could hit the Full screen button and get that. Or the custom button.
Saving you trouble of opening the dropdown. I can see where it would come in handy.
At the same time, I suspect the "Now" larger 2020 toolbar was looked at. So that got axed.
I'm just glad I never used it. {:>)0 -
When can I find it in APPSTORE? 0 -
Can you tell me what version of Camtasia 2020 is on the AppStore ? I've had issues with 2020.0.2 (really poor webcam recordings) and would prefer to get 2020.0.3 (or newer). thanks. 0
