Closed Captions - "Captions Always Present"

Hello...I am having trouble with this section ...it seems when I click on the middle section it takes me a spot in the closed captioning, but it appears in most cases these captions are already side by side with no blank space. Has anyone experienced this or a tip to avoid this...trying to resolve. Many thanks, Julie
