I was having the same problem - no matter how many times I installed the additional component and rebooted, Camtasia 2 would still not allow me to record system audio.

The problem does seem to boil down to approving the kernel extension. There may be an easier way to do this, but here's what I did to get it working:

    1. Reboot my Mac in recovery mode (https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201314)

    2. After logging in on the recovery mode screen, go to 'Utilities' in the menu bar and open 'Terminal'

    3. At the terminal prompt, enter the following command:

    spctl kext-consent add 7TQL462TU8

    4. Reboot into normal running mode

    5. Now open Camtasia 2 and re-install the system audio component one more time

After following these steps, I was fully able to record system audio.

I'm running macOS 10.15.7 (Catalina) and Camtasia 2.10.8
