    Hey Everyone,

First, I am really sorry we put out a release with basic UI elements missing. This was not intentional. I am also really sorry no one has responded to anyone here. :(

Please see this article for a fix: https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360051003152-Camtasia-Missing-Edit-Move-and-Crop-Tools

Again, my sincere apologies for all the stress this may have caused some of you, especially during a time like this. :(

    Kind regards,

    Aaron Y.

Came here for this exactly.  Thank you for pointing out that crop is in the contextual menu because I couldn't figure out what to do.

Agree that the button removal was an unwelcome update.

I agree, what was the point in removing the size, move, and crop buttons. Now we have to double our clicks to do it. Bad move! Please bring them back!

For anyone who hasn't discovered the keyboard shortcuts:

    Spacebar+drag to pan the canvas.

    Option+drag a handle to crop.

"Crop mode" is also available in the context menu.

OMG! You are a life saver.  I should have thought of looking at shortcuts! Thank you.

Yes, please put them back - or at least somewhere easy to find!

This just cost me a huge amount of time. I even downloaded the 2019 version in a panic, because I have a ton of editing to do and could not find the answer to this. I wish Techsmith could understand exactly how much stress they create when they do something like this. Has anyone noticed that we are in a pandemic, and the world's professors and teachers suddenly have to spend their lives editing video? A minor change like this costs us all hours of frustration and actual sleep. If I had an easy alternative to switch to, I'd be gone already, but the sunk costs (and actual cost) are keeping me here for the time being. This is no way to build trust. And someone really needs to send Ben Smith some chocolates.

Agree with all here. I thought it was me - I trashed my prefs, reinstalled, etc. Changes like this are not "minor" updates. Please return the functions!

I'm glad I found this thread, but disappointed to learn that removing the pan and crop buttons was on purpose and not a bug. I could maybe see if they gained some precious screen real estate but that is not the case. Poor decision on Techsmith's part...

As a bonus those buttons are described in the online training documentation which have not been updated. Imagine the people confused by that.

Cool that there is the key options, but  it should be a preference, to see or not see the crop menu

    imho ;)

Seriously, please bring these back! It makes no sense to remove them.

per mrudel comments - I'm the newb that couldn't figure out what the heck I was missing. The thought crossed my mind that I'd be better off practicing with gardening tools, 'cause I suck at media creation!!! 😛
