Got the same problem too. Updated my MacBook Pro 2020 to OS X Big Sur, then I encountered the same install audio error message.

Same problem.  2019 iMac upgraded to Big Sur.  Camtasia 2020.0.10 installed.  Audio cannot be enabled.  Have deleted and re-installed - no change. So, the product is currently useless for me - how long do we have to wait?  Please, please?

And can not record audio on snagit either - again deleted and reinstalled.  There is no system audio in my Privacy system prefs.

Shall I post the same message? I have the same problem. Installation of the system audio plugin fails after updating to macOS Big Sur Version 11.0.1

Hi, I got the following link from TechSmith to install a working System Audio Capture Component:

    https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052448751-MacOS-11-Big-Sur-and-the-TechSmith-System-Audio-Capture-Component

First I had to uninstall the the installed one and then to install the new one. After authorizing the component, I was able to record the system audio output.

Thx Oliver - still doesn't work for me. There was no audio component installed, downloaded file, apple rejected as not approved for security. Tried again and it installed, but not authorised.  Would not authorise in system prefs.

HAVE RAISED A TICKET AGAIN.  BTW, ScreenFlow works fine!!

Hi Sim, I authorised it via System Preferences/Security. Afterwards I had to restart my Mac.

    Hey all;

The best way to download the audio component would be to follow the steps in that article https://support.techsmith.com/hc/en-us/articles/360052448751-MacOS-11-Big-Sur-and-the-TechSmith-System-Audio-Capture-Component

Then it would be good to check your System preferences to ensure it is enabled, or, if the download fails, you may need to restart your Mac in order to push it through.

Sim I do not see an opened ticket under your email address here, would you like me to open a ticket for you?

I followed the instructions as suggested by Alex R (about two comments above this one) and everything is working correctly now.

    Thanks for a speedy resolution.

This is beyond frustrating!!  I have followed all instructions above and still cannot get this plugin to install.  When asked to authorize it, I'm taken back to the preferences with nothing to authorize.  Everything related to Camtasia 2020 is authorized!!!  Grrrrrrrrr.

dr_mitsch at the Authorize prompt, try clicking Uninstall instead. Quit Camtasia and the System Audio Capture installer. Then relaunch the System Audio installer. When you click Authorize, see if you get an option to authorize in System Preferences Security. This worked for me.

This option does not exist on my Mac

GDADDYMARKHAM did you try my workaround?

  • GDADDYMARKHAM

YES I never get a request to authorize - nor is there any prompts in system preferences.  I have uninstalled and installed the plugin many times - I never get the screens shown.  VERY UPSET.

GDADDYMARKHAM be sure to uninstall the system audio plug-in from the plug-in installer itself. You should see an option for that when you run the installer. Once it's uninstalled, quit and relaunch the installer. Then try the authorize option and go to Security in System Preferences.

dib - have done that many times - Endless loop

SYSTEM PREFERENCES - never get the screen you are showing.  Never prompted to Authorize

    Camtasia

There is NO option in System Prefs to enable audio.

Do I have the right Driver?  Any other suggestions?  Thanks.

Hi All -- There are new versions of Camtasia 2019 & 2020 which have resolved this problem. I re-downloaded my 2019 from the App Store and the problem has been resolved.

Big Thank You to Erik at TechSmith for all your help!!

    Hi GDADDYMARKHAM

Sorry to hear of the struggles; the issue is likely tied to the fact that Camtasia 3 is not supported/compatible with Big Sur. I would recommend reviewing our compatible operating systems list, which can be found here and making sure you're using Camtasia 3 on a system running the appropriate operating system. It is strongly recommended that whenever a new operating system is released, that users research whether the applications that they purchased are compatible with the new system. If you install the Camtasia 2020 trial and follow the steps listed here to install the system audio component, does Camtasia 2020 record audio (note, you will be required to restart your Mac)?

Robert R.   The article you mentioned indicated BIG SUR11.0  works with Camtasia  2019.0.9 or 2020.0.10 or later.  I have

    2019 v 3.1.7 - What am I confused about?

    Thanks

What you posted does not indicate that you have Camtasia 2019. You have Camtasia 3. If you have Camtasia 2019 or 2020, it will list that in the version. See my screenshot. You need to upgrade your Camtasia if you want it to work with Big Sur.
