Is it possible to save a video recorded on a MacBook as a .gif file on my local machine?

I have Capture that I'm using on my MBP to record a procedure on a web page.  The recording itself works flawlessly (thank you, TechSmith!), however the only option at the end of the process is to save to Screencast.  This won't work for me, is there a way to save the file locally as a .gif (preferable) or .mp4?

  Not at this time. A work around would be to upload it to Screencast... then download the .mp4 file.  

  If I may inquire, what are you trying to accomplish?  You might want to consider either Snagit or Camtasia as both are capable of producing a .gif directly.
