I have a Win10 system where since around Jan 29, Capture crashes right before the point the action window comes up at the end of the capture. It had always worked before that.
According to Event Viewer, it's always in RelayRecorder.exe and is the type CLR20r3. For example:
I first tried an uninstall/reinstall. That didn't help.
Then I did an uninstall along with removing these folders and Registry areas, none of which helped::
Next, I thought about anything that I'd installed since that time, but there was nothing significant. Still, I tried closing every other running program when doing a capture. Didn't help.
I began to wonder about the version of Windows itself (as you can see above, I'm on Insider), so I asked a friend who was also on the same Insider to try Capture. Works fine (though it was a fresh install of Capture), so it's not the Windows version that came along in late January.
Finally, I looked up CLR20r3 and saw that it's come up quite often over the last decade. Sometimes in other Techsmith products, but in all sorts of products. There are entire articles devoted to it collecting various folk remedies, and I tried the ones that weren't completely crazy (uncheck/recheck Windows Media Player and .Net), but of course nothing worked.
So I'm here looking for some further clue as to what might have happened. I'd try an old version of Capture to see if they worked, but none are available until you reveal where they are, and it would auto-update anyway, though I'm sure I could find a way to prevent that.
BTW, the CrashReporting dir remains empty. Is there a way to enable crash reporting, assuming that it isn't now?
