I have been using Camtasia 8 for about 5 years, producing basic videos. These don't have a lot of special effects - they are primarily for teaching purposes, captured with Camtasia Recorder from PowerPoint, and are sometimes up to 2 hours long. I just bought a new PC, an Intel Core i9 with 32GB ram and a very fast 1TB SSD drive. My previous computer was a Core i7, also 32GB ram and a small SSD primary drive, but I had to use a separate non-SSD drive for Camtasia since I ran out of space on the SSD.
When I render my files to an MP4 at 1920x1080 resolution, the new computer takes about 60% less time than the old computer. I was hoping for a bigger improvement, since it still takes about 50 minutes to render a 2 hour video (about 2 hours on the old computer, basically the same amount of time to render as the video takes). When I open the performance tracker, it shows my CPU and ram are only using 20-25% of capacity during the process.
If I upgrade to Camtasia 2020, will this be faster? And if so, how much improvement should I expect? Any other suggestions to improve the speed?
