Hi folks;
Snagit 2020.1.6 on Windows 11 is something our Technical Support team is currently tracking as we've had a handful of reports. We'd like those that are currently running Snagit 2020.1.6 and are currently on the release version of Windows 11 (please see this article if you're running an Insider's Preview / pre-release client of Windows 11) to get into a Support Ticket so we can escalate the ticket(s) and get some diagnostic files to see if we can get this squared away. I would be more than happy to create a ticket for those on Snagit 2020.1.6; if you'd like a ticket open, please respond to this post and I'll get one created asap.

Just did a clean Windows 11 install. Downloaded Snagit and installed and when I click on either the Editor or Capture icon nothing happens.

Hi Folks-
Just wanted to swing in here to see what versions of Snagit everyone is running (you can check by going to C:\Program Files\TechSmith\Snagit 2021\ and right-clicking on Snagit32.exe and choosing Properties then going to Details; it'll list the Version and Build numbers) and whether you're on the actual release of Windows 11 (rather than the Insider Preview Release Client)? You'll want to make sure you're running a version of Snagit that is compatible with Windows 11 and you can check OS requirements for our various products on this page.
Thanks!

Robert,
I see that if we are using Snagit version that is earlier than 2020.1.6, then the software will not work on Windows 11? Is that true? Basically TechSmith is saying if you are using Snagit 2019 or earlier, you are basically forced to upgrade to Snagit 2020 or else the software is obsolete?

And even with recommended version, Snagit is still crashing.

Same here, it doesn't seem to crash but it also doesn't launch when clicking on program. Maybe I'll see if I have to run it under "Administration" mode?

Also having the same issue

Also having this issue after upgrading my Personal PC (HP, AMD Ryzen 7 with Radeon Vega Graphics) to Windows 11... I'm using version 2020.1.6 (64 bit)
P.S. I upgraded my Work PC (Dell, Intel i7, Nvidia Graphics) and SnagIt is working fine. Wonder if the issue is related to AMD...

I've just installed SnagIt on my Windows 11 Enterprise 22000.282 machine. Neither SnagIt Capture or the Editor will launch. The Application Eventlog has:

Funnily enough, this is the x64 version. It's odd that the exe is SnagIt32...

Looks like that is just the file name text not the actual code. I had a root inside the .exe file with 7-zip...

Yeah, I just checked it's definitely the x64 version. I get this in the App Event Log:
Application: Snagit32.exe
Framework Version: v4.0.30319
Description: The process was terminated due to an unhandled exception.

I managed to get it work afer uninstalling it and then removing all the registry entries, downloading a fresh copy, updating Windows and finaly reinstalling and registering it anew...what a hassle!

So just wondering. Is Techsmith going to do something about this, or just leave their community to bounce it around? Hello Techsmith..........

Support was very friendly ( and techy) but the problem was solved, either by me, or on it's own... so guess until a new version appears we are on our own!

Please Help... My Snagit 2018 crashes on Windows 11. This issue needs to be fixed. I have multiple Snagit license. Thankfully I only have 1 computer I have updated to Win11. If this persists I am going to move away from Snagit to something that works.

I've managed to make some progress with SnagIt on Win11 since I logged my issue above.
I uninstalled, ran Windows Update, restarted, re-installed, restarted again and I now find that SnagIt no longer logs an exception int he even log and does indeed run on my machine
HOWEVER... There's no indication that it is running, there's no system tray objects. I can launch SnagIt by pressing PrintScreen. The only reason I found it was running at all was that after using the Windows Snipping Tool (which is a lot better than when I last used it btw) SnagIt popped up and asked if I wanted to open the Snipping Tool captures in SnagIt editor... Nice touch.
So basically, for me on Win11 system tray support it broken but SnagIt works. Version 2021.4.4 build 12541.

I have 2019.17 and it does not work. Is there a version that does work?

I have the same issue having just upgraded to Windows 11 - 2020.1.6 (64bit).
It's a bit disappointing to come on here and find that this has been a problem for over a month! :(

I just installed SnagIt version 2020.1.7 and this patch appears to resolve the issue in my HP laptop with AMD Ryzen.

Not impressed TechSmith has not been ready to support Windows 11 with Snagit. Win 11 is ready to be fully released to market. No problems with Camtasia, strangely. Latest version of everything.

I used Snagit 18.2.6 with Windows 10 without any problem. After an upgrade tot Windows 11, I am not longer able to launch Snagit: when the capture button is pushed, the program disappear.
