    Hi Kevin,

    No stupid questions here!

One thing you can do is set up your drop shadow settings before taking your capture. So here, I'm in the Image tab and I've chosen the Shadow Effect (also my Copy to Clipboard toggle switch is set to On).

To customize the shadow's color, direction, and size, click the settings gear:

With these settings, Snagit will capture the image, apply the shadow effect, and automatically add it to your clipboard for pasting.

You could even save this setup as a Preset (using the plus icon in the bottom-left corner of the Capture window) and assign a custom hotkey to it if you take this type of capture frequently.

    Hope this helps!

Oh this is goooood! Thanks! Now to be greedy, I have it working for the drop-shadow - is there a way to have 2 effects automatically applied? :-) Shadow and watermark are what I'm trying for now LOL

    Thanks so much!

    Glad that was helpful!

You can add multiple Effects to a capture. Now that you have your shadow set up, you can choose "Add another effect" from the menu here:

That will give you another dropdown, which I've set to Watermark. Again, use the settings gear to customize:
