Thank goodness for this thread. I gave up on the trial version of 2022, and downloaded 2021 and will purchase that version, which easily allows me to, Save As Preferences as .jpg.

It seems to me that the .snagx format has been heavily embedded into code in the 2022 versions, and it's probably not so straightforward to remove. After months of struggling, trying everything, I moved forward and uninstalled 2022 and reinstalled 2021. I've been a Snagit use for way more than 12 years and upgraded every year. It's unlikely that I'll continue upgrading now though. They know of the issues this has caused and the users' complaints, and clearly have no immediate intention to resolve.

It's fixed!!! Thank you, SnagIt! Nice work.

I use SnagIt every day. This morning it notified me of an update. The update fixed the default file name issue.

But you still can't tag the "saved as" images.

Snagit 2022 was the worst product upgrade that this normally highly regarded company produced. I cancelled by automatic renewal, uninstalled 2022, reinstalled 2021. I'm a happy camper now. 2021 does what I want.
