Why do I suddenly have to sign i every time I use Techsmith Capture?

    The fix for having to sign in every 24 hours is available for download and use!

    To install the latest build of Capture (2.0.10.565 as of this post):

    • Exit Capture (if you have it running)
    • Launch Capture (this will check for the new version and download it)
    • Exit Capture
    • Launch Capture (this will install and launch the latest downloaded version)
    • You may be required to sign in again, but after doing so, you should be able to use Capture without issue

    How to Check Your Version of Capture

    Please feel free to let us know if this latest version does not resolve your sign in issues!

    I completely agree.  I have also been a happy user since Jing days but the constant login every day is very annoying. Give us an option to "remember device" or something so we don't have to keep logging in!

    I've been having the same problem.  It'll be fine for a day or several days, then tell me I have to sign in.  And often it will crash and I have to restart the app.  I realize this is a free product and I greatly appreciate Techsmith giving it to us.  I know they put their resources towards paid products but would be nice if someone could look into this.  BTW, I'm on Windows 10 Pro and Home - two different computers having the same issue.

    This happens on the PAID version of Capture as well. Constant crashing, freezing, waiting around for the app to actually start. It's annoying as heck considering Jing worked so dang well. Capture and Windows 10 just don't play well together.

    Agree!! Please revert back to the older version! This is NOT working. And, half the time logging in doesn't work the first time. Very frustrating. Are you trying to lose customers???

    Same problem. Super frustrating. I've loved this thing for years...like 12 years. Now I keep hitting this and reminding myself that I need to find a replacement.

    I agree with everyone above. I've also loved Jing/Capture for years. But crashes and frustration pretty much daily will have me looking elsewhere if this doesn't get better soon.

    I too have been using this since Jing and cannot use without needing to log in each day but now on top of that when I do sign in, nothing happens. So I select the Launch Desktop App button and then I get the following message Application Already Running - but it's not and I go around in circles - so I cannot use it cos it keeps telling me it is already running but its not

    I'm using Windows 11 and also having the login every day problem.  I would gladly pay for a rock solid version of Capture.  I have a SnagIT license but prefer Capture as it does everything I need and SnagIT feels bloated and overly complicated for my basic needs.  PLEASE fix Capture or give us back Jing :~)

    Back on February 28, 2022 we released a new version of TechSmith Capture that supported our new login and authentication provider. Unfortunately in that version TechSmith Capture was only caching your login for 24 hours which made it so that users have to login every day.

    This is NOT intended behavior and our teams have implemented a fix for this issue and we expect to ship it later this week. (Week of April 27, 2022.)

    I installed the update and purposely didn't use it over the weekend.  Tried it this morning and it worked as expected, didn't ask me to sign in.  Thanks very much for fixing this!  :)
