Digitally draw over recording, not just image, while post producing video
I would like to be able to draw on the screen, in post-production, not just while recording. Thus I would like to import both video and image, place it on the timeline and then perhaps you a green screen secondary or something to free draw over the video and image while they play.
This would provide a whole new amazing dynamic to my post-production. I know there is a way to do this in Adobe, but I do not need the expense of that product except to do this one this.
Your help is very much appreciated.

you should be able to use free Epic Pen to do that; perhaps download it and try?

That would simply import static images of the drawing. What I'm assuming Eric_Magidson was looking for was the ability to record the actual drawing/annotation and add that as a layer over the top of video.
(not just the final resulting image/annotation, but the actual lines while they are being drawn)

Thank you Ed,
That is exactly what I am looking for. I have not had a chance to try it yet, but what I am hoping is that I can create and post-produce a video of high quality, play it on the screen and then record that while I use Epic Pen to write over the video. I would then have a recording with the pen, live as I write, over the video.0 -

I thought Camtasia for Windows could already do this natively -- that's why I just bought a Windows machine!

Jay Sprout That is not my understanding and I have used the product for years. If you can read this whole thread, no one has said this is native to Camtasia?
