    Hi folks!

First, I'm sorry to hear that you're running into problems with Camtasia 2022- it isn't the experience we wanted you to have. If you haven't already opened a ticket for you, would you like me to open one for each of you so we can dig in and find out what's breaking in Camtasia?

Unfortunately, yes. I try to open and convert a .trec-file to mp4, with Camtasia 2018, but it seems impossible ... :(

Same here. It seems very common and criticial issue.

I'm experiencing random crashes dragging, from a folder, directly on the timeline clips recorded with the 2019 recorder. This was more frequent with Camtasia 2019 but still an issue for me in the 2022 version

I had the same problem. The program would crash whenever I tried to drag an item from my personal library to my timeline. Now, the program won't even load

I am having the same problem. When I try to drag my personal 2021 library files to 2022, it crashes over and over again. I even tried exporting the library as a zip file and re-importing it. The problem continues.

On one hand, glad I'm not alone. On the other, we really need TechSmith to take a look at this. I am still excited about the new features, I would love to be able to use them.

Hopefully, this thread will be upvoted enough to get attention.

    Thank you all.

Camtasia 2022 installed today. It's been crashing over and over again for the last 45 minutes. Any ideas?

Hello everyone.  As an update for the issue on my end, I provided the Camtasia crash report file from my machine to Camtasia Support, which they requested as part of their investigation into this crash issue.  I hope we should have a fix soon.

Installed 2022.0.1 - seemed to work fine.

Then started crashing after the Home Screen, any action.

Did the rename Library 4.0 trick and thought it was fixed but now crashing constantly...unusable.

    Wow folks...this needs fixed ASAP...

Im experienceing the same issue not being able to upload any media.  Yesterday was completely fine, but was that because I downloaded the new version the day before?  Very frustrating, and I have reported via the option to report.

Thanks Mark, uninstalling finally got it to work for me yesterday, but I have the same issue today?  Any more ideas ?

    TIA

Camtasia 2022 crashes on me at least 10 times per session. And by session, I mean each time I sit down to create content before my patience runs out.

It's ridiculous. I'm currently on a time crunch to get 4 projects out the door, and I am constantly bottlenecked by these crashes. Screen Record? CRASH. Import media? CRASH. Over and over and over. I cannot overstate how incredibly challenging this is, and I don't understand why this hasn't been resolved?

What plans are in motion to resolve and when can we expect a fix?

Techsmith just released version 2022.0.4 fixing all of my issues with Camtasia hanging during timeline scrubbing.

you should contact tech support for assistance, with specific project details; I use 2022 all the time and do not encounter the described issues ...

After a few weeks of intense use, I can confirm that version 22.0.2  solved my problems (random crashes dragging recorded clips (with Camtasia recorder, mostly the legacy 2019 one) from a windows folder directly on the timeline). To be clear: I never have to import other media (I only create PC tutorials) so I hope that 22.0.3 and 22.0.4 can solve the other bugs for all of you too ;)

I'm also having this issue. Crashed 5 times now with different media import from the Camtasia library.

    Hi there.

The same thing happens to me. I have updated the last version of Camtasia 22 (22.1.0), and the problem persists. Every time I import a .mov file into Camtasia media, it crashes. When using Camtasia 21, all is good. No solution yet... It seems there is a problem indeed... Any solution found by someone? As it is right now, I cannot use the software...

try changing the file extension to .MP4; does that work?

Mine still crashes and have converted files using Handbrake from MOV to MP4 and still crashes. Maybe the software isn't handling resources well so it can't manage large files like 4k ones. I also own Cyberlink Power Director and it works fine with managing files so its not just my computer. When it doesn't crash it won't play a 4k video, it keeps jumping or skipping so can't preview edits.

I just created this video showing the 10 -ish things you can easily do to stop Camtasia from crashing  including when adding media - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=A4rRcRu0Xfw  I hope this helps
