The screen should UN-freeze the moment you start recording.
    Or after capturing an image.

    Joe,

During the game, Snagit locks and errors. How do I turn on the debugger to get the details?

Also, how do I turn on/off the recorder inside the game? I hit "prt scr" to turn on and I tweaked the settings to skip the timer but it still errors.

Does "prt scr" turn off the recording too?

Odds are the game is hijacking your keyboard & mouse 100%.

I record games for testing purposes. I don't record them for anything else.
If I try to record a game with Camtasia's screen recorder.I have to start recording before I launch the game.

Then, quit the game before regaining control of recorder options.

I've never put much effort into finding a way around this.
I suspect it would require a tweak in game settings, or perhaps a programmable keyboard to regain control.

    Regards,Joe

    Hi Joe,

I have discovered what you just said here. I'm tweaking the "region" setting. I can do it in Snagit but just like you said..everything has to be started before you enter the game. The issue I'm having with region now is that I selected a region on the screen before starting but Snagit started recording wrong/sliding area when I transition to the game.
I have some recorded sessions but I'm hoping to nail this down this morning.

This is a fail...Snagit keeps crashing. I can't record the video of it either. I think I can only do full window not region. I'm willing to talk to a techsmith rep to capture this issue.

I never got a fail, but using snagit to capture any of the game was awkward at best. But I was able to record a short clip in Camtasia and then Snagged shots from that recording. Easy and it worked great.

Why's this awkward when the product has a video record feature. I need solutions not talk...

I'm going to post all my videos on youtube and put the links here for you to see.

I gave you a solution, but you didn't like it. Let me say it a different way: Snagit will NEVER do as well as Camtasia but if it does, no one will ever buy Camtasia. Now do you see?

You didn't give a me a solution to my "Snagit" Issue.

YOU...gave me a testimony for another B.S. Techsmith product...

Why would I buy another product when the one I was told could do this won't?

    IF...I buy another product...it won't be Techsmith...

Can you read english, Ed? This product is Snagit not Camtasia.  Do you understand this?

"This product is Snagit not Camtasia . . ." yes I understand. You don't understand how limited Snagit is as a video recording tool.
You want a  Camtasia experience without paying for it.

Don't comment on this post you, Idiot....I don't want a "Camtasia" experience, lol.

What do I want? I want this product that I bought to do what it advertises(simple video recordings).

The SnagIt product does actually work as advertised. I use it at least 50 times each day. Likely more.

But the thing is, I've seen Joe and others regularly report that video games are a bit of a different animal. There are all sorts of posts here that claim Camtasia simply cannot record video games. Apparently the video games handle video in a manner that makes it difficult to record.

And before I get yelled at for bringing up Camtasia, I'm well aware you are using SnagIt in an attempt to capture your video game. But since Camtasia is the vastly more advanced of the two products, I felt it was worthy of pointing out that if Camtasia regularly has these problems, it's far more likely that SnagIt will have even more difficulty.

Just in the past couple of days I saw a post complaining that SnagIt cannot capture Netflix.

Since I'm here anyway, I'll also point out that becoming nasty with the folks trying to help you is against the forum guidelines. I'm not a moderator, just a user same as you. I realize you are frustrated, but there is no need to get nasty with those of us that are simply trying to assist.

Happy Holidays if you choose to celebrate them! Rick :)

It looks like it "May Be" related to screen resolution.

Which SnagIt is notorious for interpolating wrong. That is when you have Magnification applied/Screen resolution set to other  than 100%.
It can throw SnagIt for a loop.

    Rick,

    I appreciate your comment.

Ed was not here to really help me...his purpose was to hijack this conversation and talk about another product. I posted to get a fix for Snagit. His comments were always about Camtasia. Camtasia should not have entered this conversation because the product I have bought is Snagit.

This is my issue. He's comments prevent me from getting a solution from Snagit because he has redirected the conversation. This is why I asked to not comment here anymore. He did this intentional and his ascribing to me that I was trying to get something for nothing communicated to me why he was here.

Talk all you want...I'm asking for a refund from my Credit Company but this is classified a bait and switch.

Joe, what is the recommended display resolution for Snagit?

I'm pretty certain that TechSmith will quite cheerfully refund your money. They are nice folks.

However, I have to disagree that any kind of a "bait and switch" occurred here. After all, they offer SnagIt as a free download where you are able to fully test it before you purchase so that you might ensure it works for whatever you are trying to do. Because of this, it's difficult to find issue with any malpractice.

Whatever your outcome, I do wish you the best in accomplishing your goal. I know that earlier I posted about a totally free alternative for video recording.

Click here to see that thread

Perhaps it will do what you need?

    Cheers... Rick :)

    Rick,

You have the last word for 2019 on this thread. My money was refunded. So this tread is now closed.

    JL1,

    I need "Video" capture...not screenshot.
I know how to do screen capture without Snagit inside of the game.

Let me clarify my issues some more.

The issues only happens with "Region" video recording.
This video was selected off a youtube page but it required 3 clicks. One, to begin capture. Two, to select the region, Three to actually final start the capture and play the video.

I'm going to go back into game and confirm if full window recording works.
