What does Capture Cursor Do?

What does capture cursor do? I assume if you have it off that it doesn't capture the cursor. 

But as you can see in my screen shot that it captures the cursor even if I have it off.

Any help appreciated.

  Hi,

  In most cases, it works as you expect, however if you are AirPlaying or connected to certain external monitors, macOS burns in the cursor and we're unable to remove it.

  Glad I finally found this post as I have struggled with this for a long time.  This explains this frustration I have had for a while now.  And I can see that it works as expected when I am not working through my docking station - but when plugged into to my multi-monitor setting it doesn't work on any of my screens.  Good to know.
