Hint: Bullet Lists in Snagit — Fully styled & functional — Simply paste from rich text editors
Learned from this Camtasia for Windows specific thread that you can achieve bulleted lists simply by pasting bullet lists copied from a rich text editor or web browser!
Successfully applying this technique in flyouts in Snagit v2021 on MacOS 11 Big Sur. It works with any rich text editor, like Apple Pages, TextEdit (in RTF mode, not plain text mode ofc), HTML output of Markdown editors such as MacDown, and also copying list items from websites in your web browser like Safari or Google Chrome.
So far I had created poor man's bulleted lists with the unicode/ASCII bullet symbol "•" then 1-2 space characters and then text. Poor man, b/c it when text soft-wraps inside its text box boundaries it vertically aligns to the left text box boundary and not with the text near the bullet above it, like a real list does automatically. I then either left it that ugly or applied manual hard wrapping. If you later needed to resize the flyout you had to redo the manual wrapping again. Cumbersome. The official documentation does not mention bullet lists at all searched it.
Glad that I found this workaround/solution. Works great! You can even indent/outdent, insert new items, and the list is fully functional in Snagit, so numbered lists change their numbers, indentation changes the bullet symbol according to hierarchy.
So as it turns out, Snagit has the full rich text capabilities to handle and render un/ordered lists in its text engine, just no UI elements to create/style lists. Just outsourced creation/styling to third party apps.
