Unable to "open editor" and says "windows only". Am running Big Sur on mac pro.

    Sorry you're running into trouble with Snagit. We do support macOS, I would go to https://www.techsmith.com/download/snagit/ and make sure that you get the mac download. If that gives you any trouble, let us know and we can help you out.

    I'm a long time Mac user since 1984. Snagit runs fine but it says editor can only be used with the Windows Version "Windows Only." How can you make editing unavailable to Mac users who are the core of making creative films?

    Snagit's editor can be used on macOS as well, where are you seeing it say Windows Only? Do you have a screenshot of what you're seeing?

    When Clicking capture and then "Open Editor" nothing happens. It used to say WIndow Only.

    The trial version has all features available, what version of snagit are you running? Are you able to open the editor by double clicking the snagit app icon?

    Version 2022.0.3 (98104) downloaded trial yesterday. Yes and it runs fine. When clicking capture in small window and then "open editor" in lower right corner of little window, it  disappears and no editor comes up. It used to say "Window Only" now nothing happens. I have infinite patience so please ake me step by step to get editor open.

    Hi,

    Please be patient with us, we are technically closed today but I've been trying to help you as I'm able to. When you take a capture, do you have preview in editor disabled? that would cause Editor to not open after a capture.

    Yes preview is checked. I have reinstalled Snagit from your site and I was able to open editor ONCE and now cannot repeat that.

    Very strange, that's not a problem we've heard anyone else having. Normally I'd have you create a support ticket, but that won't get looked at until Monday. One thing we could check is to see if the editor is maybe crashing. You can find crash logs in the system console app as shown here https://support.apple.com/guide/console/reports-cnsl664be99a/1.1/mac/11.0. Let us know if you see any for Snagit in there.

    Now that our support is open, I think it's easiest to open up a ticket and upload the crash logs there. We can take a look at them and figure out why it's crashing for you and get that cleared up. You can either use the button at the bottom right of this page or go to https://www.techsmith.com/contact.html.

    Ah, I can see where the confusion would arise there. this is saying that opening editor from the notifications area is a windows only shortcut, the editor itself is on both mac and windows.

    Hm, ok. Try this direct link https://techsmith.zendesk.com/agent/dashboard, then at the top left there's an +Add button that lets you create a new ticket

    Hi Luke, I just discovered that:

    if I have a picture on my desktop and then I open the "little capture window" in upper right corner and then open "more capture types" which shows a column of choices from image, video, panoramic, etc. Then I click on "image" button and a new screen now surrounds my picture with the the full editor in the upper portion of the new window. OK great! So apparently the editor only works on still pictures. Maybe I need to watch the tutorials again.
