Adding to 'Snagit Very Buggy'
Continual hanging, freezing my iMac screen on v 2202.0.3 and Monterey 12.3.1. Some video's save properly others just disappear with a quick error message when I stop the recording. I am fully up to date on versions, any suggestions? In all the years I've used this product, I've never had so much trouble.

Hi,
So sorry you're seeing issues. We are aware of video problems affecting a small set of users and hope to have fixes out for those soon.
As far as hanging and freezing, what part of the product are you seeing that happen with?

I'm not sure I understand your question in regard to which 'part of the product'. Do you mean phase or step?
The freezing happens intermittently when I start the video and the screen freezes. I can't get to Force Quit, the Snagit controls are locked and I need to manually power off the computer to restart.
The hanging happens on random video's when it has already been recording and I click Stop Recording. That takes several minutes and then an error code comes up and the entire video has been lost.

Sorry if I was a bit vague, but you answered my question well! So it seems like all of the issues you're seeing are around video capture. Are you on an Intel mac or an M1 mac? And do you have any special recording hardware, like webcams or microphones?

Intel Core i5 and no other special recording equipment

Thanks, It might be worth reaching out to support, they can check to make sure all of the recording permissions are correct, which may help. https://www.techsmith.com/contact.html

Found a bug: Text for Icons in the Toolbar disappears when you switch to Dark mode on Mac (only tested on Monterey w-M1). In Dark mode there is no context menu for the Toolbar to choose Icons and Text. Additionally, when you switch back to Light mode, the text is not displayed. You need to go to the context menu for the Toolbar again to display Icons and Text.

This is a known issue that we will have fixed very soon. We could only support text in the toolbar with native macOS theming which required us to drop support for some older OS in order to adopt. Now that we've done that, we will have this resolved soon.

I too have noticed a VERY significant difference in the video capture mode being VERY slow since updating to macOS Monterey 12.3.1. Screenshot images is fine, but any time I try to capture a video (or even click the image button in the video capture mode) it takes several seconds to respond and open up the Snagit editor. This needs to be fixed soon as these delays are very annoying. Thanks.

Hi,
Are you recording with webcam on? From what we're seeing, it takes a while to initialize a webcam on Monterey, but with it off, video loads very fast.

Thank you Ac, I've also lost some critical meeting video's because of the various bugs.

if you mean turn off webcam in the snagit control before you click record, I do turn that off

I'm back Luke, I did download the update to Version 2022.1.0 (98107) and update the Mac OS to 12.4 but still experiencing intermittent crashing when I end the video captures. Any other ideas and thank you.

Do you have an open ticket number with any crash logs or hang traces I can take a look at? If not, that would help us figure out what's going on.

We've improved the load time for webcam video in today's 2022.2.0 release, I hope this helps!

Hi folks,
We've done a lot of work in the video recording space as of version 2022.2.3, especially on macOS Ventura. Let us know if that works better for you!
